All Gridlike

...so, these last few entries have been for an album cover I'm working on for The New Room's upcoming full-length. It's going to be 6 panels, 3 of which will be dedicated to the lyrics (the inside 3). I took my first pass at setting the type tonight. May be some legibility issues with the blue, but hopefully not. Man, you should this grid in In-Design.

Run on the Bank

been trying to knock these things out...
think of a quote/saying, make a typeface,  find an appropriate image, and piece together while my son takes his nap during the day (usually have about an hour)

you know.. to stay limber

Blogging aint easy

so, yeah... i'm realizing my blogging ability is falling far short of something I would actually read myself. Initially, you have to write all this stuff pretending that there are  people out there reading it, even when you know they're not. Which is cool. Whatever. Gotta start somewhere. But man, coming home after a 12 hour workday and blogging is hardly a relaxing way to unwind.

So, I'm going to take a different approach. Instead of merely posting thoughts (and occasional design work)  when I have the time and motivation, I'm going to post a series of images everyday of a particular topic; hopefully sharpening my repetitive blogging skillz ( yes with a "z," that's how serious I am. )

I'm going to start by posting a lowercase "a" of every typeface I currently have loaded in FontBook. That's right, we're starting with type, and by the end of this exercise, you will see all the fonts I'm working with. Not that I use them all ( I seriously use the same 6 fonts for everything), but have at various times felt the need to download and install them.

I'm not sure if I'll have the energy to explain exactly why I have some of these, but lets just say that different projects call for different typefaces. OK, without further ado, I present font #1 (shit, I'm already over this idea).

Robbie James

...this one didn't get used ...although i am considering using it for my portfolio.

Off the chart

I like nothing more than designing cool shit; the kind of stuff where I have total freedom. Sometimes, as I'm sure we're all very well aware, you have adjust your style to meet the needs of a particular client, or, as designers call it: staying employed.

Occasionally you realize you can make stuff you didn't know you were capable of. Case in point, it turns out I can make pie charts in Photoshop.

Ok, it's time i guess

Well, check it out; gonna be some art, photos, design throw-aways (and maybe some keepers), & who knows, maybe I'll get back into writing and post some short stories. Sounds like the typical ambition of a blogger who's not sure they will actually blog at all.

I'll guess we'll see.
